Mound of Ūdininkai

Mounds

The mound is located on a separate hill in the valley of River Uidė. The site is oval, elongated in the south-north direction, measuring 12x10 m. Most of it was demolished during the excavation of the quarry, leaving only 2-3.5 m wide on its eastern side. The slopes are of medium steepness, 5 m high. In 2001, the specialists of the Cultural Heritage Center carried out exploratory research and, based on its findings, identified that the mound in an ancient settlement. The mound dates back to the Stone Age. During archeological excavations, a flint section was found in the territory of the settlement, which is currently kept in the Lithuanian National Museum. The area of the ancient settlement of Ūdininkai is 0.52 ha.
