In this area, in 1863 June 29 (according to other data, on the 21st (9)), a battle took place between the joint unit of the rebels Viktor Hlaska, Povilas Suzin and Brant's squads, led by Povilas Suzin, and the units of the Russian army, led by Capt. Stern von Gwiazdovskii and col. Skordulios. The commander P. Suzinas himself was killed and over 30 rebels, according to some data a total of 32 were killed, according to others - 35 rebels. They are buried in Šilo forest, Mockonių village, Seiriju sen., Lazdiju district. The remains of Commander P. Suzin are probably reburied in Seiriju cemetery.
