The Battle of Kalniškė, which took place on May 16, 1945, is undoubtedly one of the most famous battles in the history of Lithuanian partisan struggles. From the very beginning, he has been wrapped up in stories, interpretations, real and fictional stories, and many articles have been written. Not a single song was written about him, but the battle itself was and is the pride of the patriotic Lithuanian people and an example of patriotism not only in the South, but also in the whole of Lithuania. Every year a whole series of events are organized to commemorate the battle, and the battle memorial and its surroundings become an attraction for people not only to attend official events, but also for various educational events for young people.
