The performance "God Looks Down from the Mountain"

Performances
Can the work of two great personalities, symbols of Lithuanian poetry, fit on one theater stage?
This is the challenge that director Albertas Vidžiūnas takes on, presenting the play "God Turns from the Mountain", created based on the poetry of two Dzūkija poets - Justinas Marcinkevičius and Sigitas Geda.
In the performance, the poets' words become not only readable, but also experienced. Here, poetry returns to its living origins – to be an expression of human states, thoughts, and feelings, opening up one's connection with nature, community, and eternity.
Both poets speak about what is extremely relevant today – the search for identity, empathy, responsibility and anxiety about the fragility of the world. In the vision of director A. Vidžiūnas, the work of J. Marcinkevičius and S. Geda becomes like a ray of light in the noise of the present. It invites us to stop for a moment, listen to ourselves and hear that sometimes a silent pause gives us much more than reckless rushing.
Albertas Vidžiūnas is a theatre director, a student of Jonas Vaitkus. The artist has created performances at most of the main stages of Lithuania – the Lithuanian National Drama Theatre, the State Youth Theatre, the Vilnius Old Theatre, the National Kaunas Drama Theatre, the Šiauliai Drama Theatre, the Panevėžys Juozas Miltinis Theatre and other theatres.
“God Turns from the Mountain” is already the seventh performance by A. Vidžiūnas at the Alytus City Theatre. Alytus residents are well aware of his previous productions: “American Dream”, “(Un)Children's Games”, “Freedoms Arena”, “Jonas Sobieskis”, “Jewish Street” and “Tūla”.
