On August 27 at 12:00, a remote conversation with creator, set designer, actress and artist Saule Degutyte will take place on the Lazdijai Cultural Center's Facebook account. The creator will be interviewed by the director of the Lazdijai Cultural Center, Doctor of Arts Milda Al-Slamah.
Saulė Degutytė's work is well known on the Lithuanian theater stage - "Stalo teatras", which has been operating for more than 20 years, offers audiences to immerse themselves in object theater performances created according to original scripts based on folk tales, legends, myths or works of children's literature.
On September 8, Lazdija residents will be able to see her performance "Archaeology of Goddesses", inspired by the ideas of ethnologist and archaeologist Marija Gimbutienė. In it, goddesses and beings of the ancient Baltic world will emerge from the depths of prehistoric times one by one into the spotlight - Žemyna, Austėja, Laima, Veliona, Giltinė, Vėlijūtė. The performance has been nominated for the "Golden Stage Cross".

This talk is part of the event series “Towards the Theatre of Consciousness”. The project takes place from June to November 2026 at the Lazdijai Cultural Centre and its branches. The project is funded by the Lithuanian Council for Culture and will feature five performances based on Lithuanian dramaturgy and created by professional performing arts creators as a way to rethink sustainability. The audience will be invited not only to see innovative works that break the standards of theatrical creation, but also to look at creation as a way of thinking.
