This exhibition is a visual journey through the contrasts of two East Asian countries, allowing the viewer to get closer to cultures that seem distant at first glance, yet close. The photographs reveal a delicate balance between tradition and modernity: from peaceful temples and old quarters to the streets of big cities, full of light, movement and technology.
The exhibition aims to not only show that Japan and South Korea share many historical, cultural and aesthetic parallels, but also to reveal the human connection that unites people from different corners of the world. The photographs capture fragments of everyday life – from bustling city dwellers to calm, thoughtful faces – remind us that despite language or cultural differences, we are united by similar values.
People living in these countries are often hardworking, responsible, and respectful of others. Although at first glance they may appear reserved or withdrawn, closer contact reveals their curiosity, warmth, and genuine interest in other people. Like Lithuanians, they value simple but meaningful things – communication, traditions, and the identity of their country.
The exhibition invites us not only to look to distant lands, but also to rethink our own relationship with the world – to discover how much commonality lies where we initially see only differences.
