September began in the reading room of the Lazdijai Motiejus Gustaitis Gymnasium with a colorful exhibition of student works. The exhibition features creative works by students in grades 8-2g, entitled "My Land – Dzūkija" and dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Lithuanian artist Antanas Žmuidzinavičius.
Dzūkija is not just a region on the map. It is the rustling of the forest, the summer light running along the sandy paths, a quietly winding river, a pine forest smelling of moss... During art lessons, led by teacher Jūratė Baranauskienė, students got acquainted with the work of Antanas Žmuidzinavičius, his favorite Lithuanian landscapes, and his methods of painting expression. The artist's work inspired students to look at Dzūkija in a new way.
Each work has its own unique Dzūkija. Sometimes it is quiet and mysterious, sometimes it is sunny, lively and full of summer colors. The students' creative works bring to life the greenery of forests, vast fields, sandy paths, winding rivers and small boats sailing on them, cozy villages, familiar roads, trees - fragments of the landscape of their native land.
I sincerely thank art teacher Jūrate Baranauskienė, who constantly encourages students to create, observe beauty, and share it with others.
The exhibition will be open in the gymnasium reading room until September 30.
