On September 23rd - the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Lithuanian Jewish Genocide - we invite you to a memory and awareness event.
At 10:00 a.m. we will meet in Katkiškės, at the site of the Jewish massacres and the memorial to the graves. Here we will honor the memory of the victims of the Holocaust, lay memorial stones, and remember the people whose lives were cut short by the Holocaust.
The second part of the event will begin at 10:45 a.m. in the courtyard of the Lazdijai Regional Museum. From here, we will embark on a memory journey through the city of Lazdijai – visiting places where the Jews of Lazdijai once lived, worked, studied, and created families and communities.
As we walk the streets of the city, we will remember their names, stories, and lives. It will be like a symbolic return – from the graves to the city, from silence to storytelling, from the past to living memory.
With memories and stories, we will briefly bring them back to the city spaces, allowing them to become a living part of Lazdijai history again.
We invite you to remember, honor, and preserve the memory together.
