Educational programs of Veisiejai Regional Museum

Educational programs are carried out in the Veisiejai Regional Museum:

National costume of Dzūkija region - the participants of the educational session get acquainted with the national clothes of Lithuanian ethnographic regions, their similarities and differences. The emphasis is on the national costumes of the Dzūkija region. Participants learn to wear a national ribbon or scarf. During the creative tasks, the participants draw and color individual parts of the national costume on paper (skirt, vest, headgear, ribbon, etc.) and “dress” the dolls cut from cardboard with their own paper national clothes;

Floating Dream - during the educational session, participants are introduced to the history of Ebru art, performance techniques, tools used. Painting on water does not require any special artistic ability. For most people, it is surprisingly easy to get positive emotions and get unique creations. Each touch of the hand leaves a personal, emotionally vivid imprint of the ebru in the drawing, which is born in water incredibly colorful, mottled with a variety of patterns, and intertwined with strands of color;

All Lithuanian folk patterns can be placed on the eggshell - during the educational session, the participants get acquainted with Easter customs, the history of the origin of eggs, ancient ways of printing eggs. During the session, participants print an egg with natural wax;

Children's evenings in the times of kerosene lamps - Through conversations and discussions, it is found out what children did in the long autumn and winter evenings, what work they did, what was entertainment and fun. The participants of the education sing songs, remember riddles, read fairy tales, proverbs, fast words, play games or circles in Dzūkija dialect;

Candle casting - participants get acquainted with the purpose of candles, their casting methods, bee products, learn how to prepare wax and make wicks. Hear the story of Dzūkija region Vėliniai, Grabnyčiai, Kučiai, st. Christmas customs. During the practical sessions, participants learn to pour candles themselves by pouring;

Let's decorate the house with carvings - the participants of the education learn during the sessions how the carpentry houses were decorated by our ancestors, what ornaments or symbols are reflected in the carvings. During the practical task, participants are taught to cut out a traditional tree of life, compose and create their own work (postcard, picture, general collective poster);

The beautiful alphabet - during the educational session you learn about calligraphy - a daily newspaper, the art of beautiful and clear writing and the importance of legible writing. Examples of legible and difficult-to-read letters are shown to the participants of the education. Participants write a daily journal on specially prepared sheets.
