The Šlavantai hillfort is located in the lands of the Jotvingians, on a hill with steep slopes up to 1.5 m high on the western shore of Lake Šlavantas. The hillfort is surrounded by an unnamed narrow stream from the south, the lake valley from the east, and lower fields from the north and west. There was an ancient settlement at the southwestern foot of the hillfort and on the other bank of the unnamed stream. The fragments of rings and molded pots with rough surfaces found there indicate that the settlement, like the hillfort, was inhabited in the 1st millennium–early 2nd millennium. On the slopes of the Šlavantai hillfort, there is a hornbeam forest with rare plants - medicinal durum wheat.
