Project "MeTyla"
Public Institution "Lazdijų turizmo informacinis centras" will implement the Smart Village project "MeTyla" (project No. 21SK-KA-25-1-01631-PR001 ). By the decision of the Selection Committee of the National Paying Agency under the Ministry of Agriculture on November 5, 2025, support was allocated for the implementation of the project under the Smart Village Strategy of the Dzūkija Rural Development Partners Association "Development of Social and Economic Opportunities in Meteliai" No. 21SK-PV-25-1-01704-PR001
The project is developed under the intervention measure "Smart Villages" , focused on inclusive development of local infrastructure and services, environmental protection, sustainable development and climate change mitigation. The project activities directly contribute to strengthening the socio-economic opportunities of the village of Meteliai, promoting the development of the slow tourism concept and the inclusion of the local community.
The goal of the project is to revitalize the former Meteliai school building by creating a sustainable experiential tourism and remote work space "MeTyla" based on the principles of silence and slow tourism, promoting local social, economic and environmental growth through smart solutions.
The total value of the project is EUR 489,670.00, the allocated support is EUR 195,868.00, of which EUR 166,487.80 is European Union support, EUR 29,380.20 is Lithuanian state budget funds, and EUR 293,802.00 is allocated by the Lazdijai District Municipality.
During the implementation of the project, a 380 sq. m. space on the first floor of the former Metelii school building (Ežero g. 5, Metelii, Lazdijų district) will be renovated, installing 13 rest and recreation spaces with 26 seats , 2 of which are adapted for persons with disabilities , as well as creating a creative room for joint activities and education .
The project will also implement smart digital solutions - an information e-system is being created that allows you to reserve rest and recreation places, get acquainted with the Meteliai region's tourism routes, educational programs, purchase goods from local producers or order services. These solutions will help reduce the administrative impact on the environment, promote local business integration and contribute to the sustainable development of tourism.
The project will be implemented from November 5, 2025 to April 30, 2028.
The project is co-financed by the European Union.
