Vaiva Malinauskienė's solo exhibition "From Silence"

The author about herself:
This exhibition was born from silence – from slow presence, observation and inner movement, which is in no hurry to be named. Flowers in my work are not depicted as objects or decorative motifs – for me they are a state, a form of peace, a breath of growth and life. Here different languages of my work meet: oil painting, Chinese painting and ceramics. In oil painting I look for the depth of color and a slow stroke, in Chinese painting – emptiness, pause, the essence of gesture. This is painting, in which not only what is painted is important, but also what is left unsaid. Ceramics for me – a very close, almost meditative relationship with the earth. It is the need to touch, feel the material, to be closer to what everything comes from. Maybe that is why the creation and nurturing of flower beds takes up a lot of space in my everyday life – life among growing forms, which teach patience, silence and attention.

This exhibition takes place in a space that is very dear to me – the library, where I worked for several years and which became not only a place of work, but also a place of inner silence, concentration, and communion. Therefore, this exhibition is also a kind of gift to this space, to the people with whom I shared my daily life, and to the visitors, whom I invite to simply be, to take their time, to allow themselves to look without expecting to understand.
