January 13th – Freedom Defenders Day – is a day when we stop to remember those people who, without fear of risking their lives, stood up to defend our freedom. It is a day when we feel gratitude and respect for their courage, unity and belief that freedom is the most precious gift. Remembering their sacrifice, we feel not only the weight of history, but also the warmth that unites us all – the people of free Lithuania, whose hearts beat in one rhythm.
