Ten-year-old Anna, living in remote Australia, meets a messy but cute little black dog one day. After politely greeting her new acquaintance, the stray is quite willing to make friends, so the girl takes him home. After naming him Rantas, Anna soon realizes that this little dog is special: he is not only very friendly, but also listens to commands and learns all sorts of tricks.
One day, Anna hears about a prestigious dog competition in London, where dogs from all over the world come to demonstrate all kinds of skills and tricks. The winner of this competition is awarded a quarter of a million in cash, which would solve all the problems of the girl's family.
Convinced that her Rant is no less capable than the most amazing and clever dogs in the world, Anna resolutely decides to travel to London and participate in the competition.
