Last weekend, there was an introductory cultural hike to Veisiejai - Šilainė - Veisiejai , which we organized together with Camino Lituano and the Social Inclusion Hiking Center . This two-day cultural, social, educational event gave us not only warmth, new acquaintances, people's life stories, the joy of walking, but and had an educational effect.
Thanks to Albinas Jarmala, we got to know the life and work of the composer, organist J. Neimonts, we enjoyed the songs of J. Neimonts' creations performed by the folk ensemble "Packavėlė" of the Veisiei House of Culture, we listened to the stories of Ła Bakanovaitė, volunteer of the Year of Lazdijai, about the meaning of volunteering and why it is so important to be a volunteer for each of us. During the event, it was very interesting to meet Lass Jonavas Rajon Filialas, who not only marched together, but also gave us their enthusiasm, good mood and songs. We also heard about the activities of the young Šauliuks, and listened to their recited poems. At Vytautas Žukauskas' homestead "Šilainė" we were welcomed like old friends: we tasted silken porridge prepared by the hosts, listened to stories about the beginning of Veisiei plein air, and viewed a personal exhibition of more than two decades.
Prof. held on Sunday I. Leliūgienė's lecture about prof. S. Šalkauskis was very influential and inspiring. In the discussion-presentation moderated by Paulius Godvadas, we heard about volunteering and raised questions, so who is that volunteer and how much support does he have? Don't businesses in today's world save their resources and use volunteers only for financial returns? How important it is to be family-oriented and community-oriented.
During the event, we all got to know Veisiei, their surroundings, the great community, the truly magical aura that lingers here. The participants mentioned that they will come back here again and again and what a mistake it is to just pass this city.
We say a big THANK YOU to Albin Jarmala
