Mardi Gras in Lazdijai changes its format: instead of famous fun - unifying farewells with winter and support of Ukraine.
It is certainly not time to traditionally have fun, but to mobilize, meet and support Ukraine and its people fighting for freedom with more meaningful songs and words than ever before.
So this year we will carry and traditionally do not celebrate Mardi Gras, but we will meet and be together. We will admire masks made by children, youth, communities, invite you to participate in educational programs and sing hopeful songs from the heart. We will support the Ukrainians who are fighting for freedom.
We very much hope that all the misfortunes will burn in the Mardi Gras bonfire, the aggressors will lose their power, and those who fight against them will not lose their strength and hope.
May culture and the activities of the cultural center become a source of hope for all of us, because it is culture, history and customs that are the foundation of our state!
Let's draw our inner strength from Martin Luther's words: "Even if I knew the end of the world would be tomorrow, I would still plant my apple trees ..."
