On Friday, in celebration of European Mobility Week and European Heritage Days, a large group of cyclists pedaled in the Ride to the Sunset ride. The organizers are VšĮ "Lazdijai tourism information center", Lazdijai district police commissariat, public health office of Lazdijai district municipality and VšĮ Lazdijai culture center. Before leaving on the planned route to the Rudamina hill, the officers of the Lazdijai District Police Commissariat organized a quiz. All cyclists who answered the questions correctly were awarded with reflective vests, lights and reflectors and had the opportunity to repeat the rules of safe traffic. Employees of the public health office of the Lazdijai district municipality conducted exercise - they helped to move the joints and warm up the muscles. Next, the participants of the hike went on a trip along the route through the villages of Žemaitkiemi and Beviršiai to Rudamina mound. After reaching one of the largest mounds in southern Lithuania, the participants of the hike, who were a bit tired, could strengthen themselves with their kibis and watch the spectacular fire and light show "Jotvingių sakmės", and for a moment go back in time: the fire brought by the horsemen was burning, and symbolic ceremonies were taking place. After the enchanting fire performance, the entire Rudamina mound lit up with the signs of jotvings. The event ended already after dark and the cyclists returned home full of excitement and well exercised - they covered about 20 kilometers.
